SEN

At St Michael’s we believe in participation for all learners. We aim to create an inclusive and caring culture in our school with all children participating in learning. We celebrate all members of our community and respond to all children’s individual needs.

We plan our curriculum to be:

  • one which gives real purpose to learning and encourages independent thinking and application of skills;

  • a fun and engaging curriculum which supports, extends and challenges all learners;

  • an exciting and relevant curriculum which uses creative ways of working and utilises all available resources;

  • one which values and is enhanced by relationships with the local and wider community.

Our Special Educational Needs and Disability Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Sonia Watters.  She is a qualified teacher who has taught all age groups from Reception to Year 6; she has attained the National Award for SEN; she also has a postgraduate diploma in specific learning difficulties.  Mrs Watters is in school on Monday and Tuesday each week and can be found in the SEND room close to the school office.  Mrs Watters has an open door policy to parents both at the start and end of the school day or alternatively an appointment can be made to see her by telephoning the school office on  01643 702759.
