St. Michael's Science Curriculum

At St. Michael's, we encourage children to be inquisitive throughout their time at the school and beyond. The intent of our science curriculum is to develop curiosity in children about the world around us as well as our universe. We believe science encompasses the acquisition of key substantive and disciplinary knowledge which builds the children’s understanding of the four big ideas for Science - Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth Science.

Through our Science curriculum, the children will acquire and develop the key knowledge that has been identified within each unit and across each year group, as well as the application of scientific enquiry. We ensure that the Working Scientifically enquiry types are built-on and developed throughout children’s time at the school so that they can apply their knowledge of science when using equipment, planning and conducting investigations, asking questions and being curious about their surroundings.
