Getting To School

As many of you will have experienced first-hand, the roads surrounding
St. Michael's First School become very congested with the traffic generated by the school run, especially since the beautiful part of town in which we are based is characterised by many narrow lanes. Nor do we have a school carpark to facilitate drop-off and pick-up.

Therefore we encourage parents to walk their children to school wherever and whenever possible. This is great regular exercise for them. Some children even prefer to scoot and leave their scooters in the front playground during the day.
(Or, like these pupils to the right, you might prefer simply to cartwheel along the beach to school.)

However, we fully realise and appreciate that walking to school is not practical for some families as they live too far away or are on route to work. If you do have to drive, please do not park directly outside the school gates. We are trying to keep this area free of obstruction, to allow all children to walk to and from school safely. We politely ask all parents to be considerate of local residents' parking.
