We are extremely proud of our school; St. Michael's is a Church of England school in the heart of our community with the community family at its heart. We are located in West Somerset, an our area renowned for the outstanding natural beauty of Exmoor, its rolling hills, farmlands and sublime seascapes. Here it is our intent to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment in which children are nurtured to achieve the highest standards as guided by our Christian Values.

My Aim for St. Michael's is a simple one: I want our school to be joyous. To be filled with love, laughter and learning. At St. Michael's CofE First School, we want all children to live their lives to the fullest - regardless of background or starting points - we want all children, staff and the wider community to flourish - for our school family to flourish. We place our trust in God to help us achieve our full potential in all aspects of life. Our strong Christian vision is based on John 10:10: I have come in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness. The verse comes in the context of Jesus' teaching his followers that he, Jesus, is the Good Shepherd; the image is of the shepherd who knows his flock well, and whose voice the sheep recognise, who has the best interest of the sheep at hear. The shepherd wants them all to flourish - to live a full and varied life.

We aim to provide a first-class education for all children at St Michael’s, so that they flourish in everything they attempt and are able to live life to the fullest. Underpinning all our work are our core Christian values: Love, Integrity, Respect, Service, Perseverance and Appreciation.

We have the highest aspirations for all and we pride ourselves on knowing the children as individuals and providing them with a highly engaging curriculum that allows them to fulfil their potential. We want to ensure St Michael’s School is a strong school where all children are provided with Quality First Teaching and have the opportunities to thrive and achieve, and where strong leaders drive for ambition, respect and excellence. This is why we offer a rich and broad curriculum that incorporates indoor and outdoor learning. Our highly dedicated and loyal staff always go the extra mile to ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate fully in everything we have to offer.

Working closely with parents, our Parent Community Group, our Academy Improvement Board, Beacon Education and our local community, our children are at the centre of all that we do. Each and every child is valued and cared for as an individual, from the moment we welcome them into our school through to the time that they move onto secondary education. We are incredibly proud of our children’s achievements.
