Volunteering in School

Volunteering in School

At St Michael’s we welcomes parents, carers and members of our wider community as educators to enrich our children’s learning experience.

Do you have a specific skill or maybe an hour a week that you could give us?
Are you retired or looking for work experience in a school?

Your active participation in school is always welcomed. You can be involved in sharing a skill such as cooking, gardening, carpentry, sewing etc. Playing board games or reading stories to the children are other valuable ways of contributing to the daily routine at school. Classes often need adult support on educational visits. All helpers will be required to attend an induction session with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) online form. You will receive notification via email when this is ready to complete.

We have a whole host of activities that we’d love you to support:

  • Listening to children read
  • Volunteer to help with Forest School
  • Supporting Swimming Lessons
  • Joining us on off-site visits e.g. field trips, sporting and dance festivals, swimming lessons, museum visits
  • Share your talents or expertise by running or supporting an after school club e.g. gardening, sporting activity or languages
  • Running workshops
  • Back stage help in school productions

If you are interested and would like to find out more, please contact the office on 01643 702759 or speak to your child's teacher.

Alternatively, you can become a member of our PTA who fundraise for the school. This is a super way of becoming immersed in the school community and getting to know people.  For further information please ask at the office for details.
